Marketing Week: A Week Of Insights and Inspiration

Marketing Week, held from October 21-25, was a huge success! This year’s event lineup consisted of an impressive mix of workshops, alumni panels, and guest speakers, all aimed at helping students sharpen their marketing skills and connect with industry professionals.

  • Alumni Panel: Kicking off the week, our alumni panel featured graduates from all five marketing specializations. They shared invaluable tips and insights on thriving in the industry!

  • Industry Tour: A fully booked tour of Hootsuite’s headquarters gave attendees a behind-the-scenes look at how one of Vancouver’s top tech companies operates day-to-day, featuring a Q&A with their account executives! Did you know they have the cutest mascot named Owly?

  • Guest Speakers: We had the pleasure of hearing from Kathryn Ryan, a real estate marketing specialist, and Kenton Low, former VP of the Walt Disney Company and currently, our very own Dean of SOBM!

This annual event continues to be a highlight for BCITMA members, offering valuable opportunities to gain knowledge and make professional connections.

Krispy Kreme Fundraiser: A Delicious Success

Our Krispy Kreme sale satisfied everyone’s sweet tooth with students lining up to grab a box (or three) of donuts! The proceeds from this event will go toward funding future activities and events, ensuring that our association can continue offering valuable experiences to all members. Thank you to everyone who came out to support us!

Speed Mentoring Event: Guidance For The First Years

On October 16, BCITMA hosted a speed mentoring event designed to support first-year students as they get started on their marketing journeys. The event allowed first years to connect with second-year mentors and receive insightful advice and guidance.

Halloween Trivia Night: Spooky Fundraising for QMUNITY

BCITMA ended the month off strong with a Halloween-themed trivia night at the Habitat Pub, where teams competed in a battle of wits to win prizes and enjoy a spooky evening with friends. Best of all, the event supported QMUNITY, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of queer, trans, and Two-spirit people in Vancouver. With a fantastic turnout, teams of 2-5 enjoyed a night of Halloween trivia, competing for prizes including two tickets to Fright Night and community-building—all for a great cause.

BCITMA Case Team Prepares for the AMA Case Competition

Case team conducted several focus groups to gain in depth insights to aid their case.

BCITMA’s case team is gearing up for the long-awaited AMA Case Competition, an event that brings together top student marketing chapters from across North America to tackle real-world business challenges! In preparation, our team has been collecting data through focus groups and surveys focused on students’ preferred design software, creating an effective strategy.

This competition is a chance for our case team to apply their marketing expertise, creativity, and strategic thinking and represent BCIT in the big leagues! We’re excited to see them bring their best to the competition and showcase the talent and skills within BCITMA!
