The beginning of a new semester at BCIT is not a time for warming up and slowly getting started. Here at BCITMA, we enter the race running at full-speed! The busy month of January for the BCITMA has allowed us to really see the talent and dedication that many of our members put towards the club. Amongst all the work, we want to highlight two exceptional individuals that really went above and beyond this month. It was a difficult task to choose but we are excited to present Emily Sander and Rishi Soni as the January Members of the Month.

The BCITMA’s Annual Regional Conference took place on the 14th and it was a total success. Of course, this was all due to the hard work of those who spent countless hours planning the event. The VP of Integrated Marketing, Sarah Westwood, and her director, Jalees Jaswal worked alongside First-Year Lead Emily Sander. Emily has been instrumental in planning the Regional Conference. She worked closely with the Sponsorship committee to secure donations for the gift baskets and swag bags. She also helped with rallying first-year Marketing students for volunteer opportunities and acted as the volunteer liaison for the event. Emily handled all aspects of her job with a professional and enthusiastic attitude and did an overall great job of promoting the Regional Conference to first year students. It was wonderful to see a strong turnout of first-years at the Conference and I know we can thank Emily for that.
Three days after Regionals on the 17th was the annual Schmoozapalooza networking event for the Marketing Communications students. Emily played yet another instrumental part at this event by serving as the Volunteer Food Coordinator. Sylvia Tran, the Volunteer Lead and the rest of the Schmoozapalooza team were incredibly fortunate to have Emily’s help in leading the kitchen and making sure that all food-related tasks were taken care of. Emily did a wonderful job at delegating duties to the other first-year volunteers and she even arrived early and stayed late to help the Schmoozapalooza committee. The event would not have been as big of a success without her help!
The Corporation Relations committee has been working tirelessly on their marketing projects led by the VP, Isabelle Chui. Her director, Rishi Soni has played a fundamental role in implementing the project with client VNCVR Clothing. Rishi has gone above and beyond in delivering top-notch work for VNCVR while making sure to show his professionalism and positivity while doing so. He is currently working on a promotional video for VNCVR, which will surely be fantastic! Rishi does a tremendous job at organizing meetings, facilitating discussions and bringing great ideas during weekly committee meet-ups. He is always willing to lend a hand and help out the other directors. As a result, he has jumped onto helping with the other client, LOGiiX, to meet project deadlines. As the Corporate Relations committee wraps up on their marketing projects with the two clients, they can be proud of all the work they have done. Rishi has played a vital part in this and he should be immensely proud of his work.
In addition to all this, Rishi is currently organizing the Antisocial Solutions industry tour on behalf of the Corporate Relations committee. He is a true team player who is open to helping out those around him whether in the Corporate Relations team or in the BCITMA as a whole. Working together as a club is key to all that we do and applaud Rishi for all his help!
