This Marketing Week 2016, BuildDirect is welcoming BCIT students for an industry tour and Q&A hosted by the BCITMA that you won’t want to miss.
BuildDirect is a leading online marketplace that specializes in home improvement products being connected directly between homeowners and suppliers. The company eliminated the need for excessive markups, difficult and untrustworthy shopping experiences, and limited access to products that homeowners wanted but couldn’t get too. This iconic and successful business model, created by co-founders Jeff Booth and Rob Banks, empowers the homeowner instead of the retailer. BuildDirect is happy to say that it is “opening a world of possibilities by simplifying the home improvement industry.”
Not only is BuildDirect a thriving online marketplace, but it is also a company that places a huge emphasis on having an amazing company culture and positive impact on its customers. The experience delivered to consumers involves empowering and providing solutions that matter to them. The company only sees the long term; a customer is not a transaction.
At BuildDirect, part of why a person is hired is not only because of their talent and experience but because they can embody who they are as a person. The company recognizes that trying, even if you fail, is the best way to learn. The question, “what would you do if you couldn’t fail?” is continually asked to employees, because the best ideas can come from failures. The company encourages learning and trying new things and gives employees $300 annually to do something they’ve always wanted to do or try; it doesn’t even have to be work-related.
The amazing company culture and passion for empowering the customer is what makes me, as an aspiring marketer and industry professional, extremely excited to experience the industry tour and Q&A at BuildDirect next Wednesday. Do not forget that sign-ups for the tour will be first-come-first-serve!
